TELENOR: IN GERMANY
Telenor intends to invest up to DM2 billion (Euro 1 billion) in Germany within the next three years. A new subsidiary, Telenor Deutschland, will offer a large variety of services, including satellite services, Internet access and media services. Also, Telenor continues to be present in Germany’s prospering telecommunications market with a 10 per cent stake in telecommunications and mobile phone company Viag Interkom. "In our international expansion strategy Germany is a key market for us," said Terje Thon, vice chairman of Telenor, at the official presentation of Dusseldorf-based Telenor Deutsch-land. He added that Telenor would gain strength in some business areas by the acquisition of suitable partner companies. "We position ourselves as an integrated service provider which by using its own satellite infrastructure and VSAT technology covers the whole business range in the areas of data traffic, Internet and media," said Telenor Deutschland’s managing director Oystein Kvarme.
