ITC HITS GOD WITH POUNDS 20K FINE
UK television regulator the ITC was the sender of an unpleasant December 23 Christmas card in the shape of a Pounds 20,000 fine for GOD – The Christian Channel for "several breaches of its advertising code relating to impartiality, playing on fear, offence to human dignity and denigration of other beliefs."
The breaches all occurred during an advertisement for a London rally that featured tele-evangelist Morris Cerullo, which the ITC ruled must not be shown again. It is understood that greatest exception was taken to the channel’s advertising comments regarding homosexuality which breached the ITC’s Rule 13 covering content that could be "offensive to public feeling [or] prejudice respect for human dignity."
