Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), the Frankfurt-based regional affiliate of German public broadcaster ARD, has launched its economic and financial news radio channel hr-skyline on the Astra satellite system (19.2 degrees East) to increase its technical reach. The radio station, which had so far only been available on some terrestrial frequencies around Frankfurt, transmits in the Astra Digital Radio (ADR) system on the subcarrier 7.74 MHz of transponder 40 (11.068 GHz V), occupied by HR’s regional television channel hessen fernsehen. With this latest addition, the complete range of HR’s radio stations is now available to DTH households equipped with an ADR receiver: hr1, hr2, hr3, hr4, hr1 plus, hr2 plus Klassik and hr XXL. According to Astra Marketing Germany, there are currently 500,000 homes in German-language Europe that can receive ADR channels.
