Turkish media group Dogan has received permission from the directors of Germany’s 15 regional media authorities to launch the planned version of its domestic general interest channel Kanal D for the Turkish community in Germany.

According to a statement issued after the directors meeting in Dortmund, the channel will screen mainly Turkish-language programmes with a strong focus on Germany. News broadcasts and magazines additionally will be aired in German language using a second audio carrier. The federal anti-concentration commission had given green light to Kanal D Germany in November, thus Frankfurt-based media authority Landesanstalt fur privaten Rundfunk can now proceed with quickly granting the regular broadcast licence.
