Regional Czech satellite TV station Galaxie started transmissions on November 18 on satellite and cable according to local reports. It has also been reported that channel could be a target for Central European Media Enterprises (CME) as a new vehicle for its ambitions in the region following its well-publicised falling out with CET21 and Nova TV.

Galaxie started broadcasting in December 1996 with a regional television licence. The holder of licence for Galaxie is the RTV Gemma company. In September this year Galaxie concluded a contract with the Patria Finance investment company, which ensured it long-term financing through a capital entry of a group of both domestic and foreign investors. US-based Global Television Networks invested in Galaxie last year, taking a 49 per cent stake in RTV Gemma.
