DirecTV has announced DirecTV Airborne, an entertainment service for commercial airlines, to make its in-flight debut this autumn. Three airlines, Alaska Airlines, Legend Airlines and JetBlue Airways will carry the service. An antenna will sit on top of the aircraft’s fuselage and receive programming from DirecTV at 101 degrees West. Passengers will be able to access 24 channels on flat screens in each seat back. Four ESPN networks, Bloomberg Television and several channels from Discovery Networks are included.
