BALL’S CHANGES
Tony Ball, BSkyB’s new CEO, barely three months into the job, has said that he is making "significant changes" into each of BSkyB’s operating divisions. "There is now one marketing department. There is now one interactive/new media department. Many of [the departments] had gone off on their own tangents," said Ball.
Ball, speaking to journalist at a recent Broadcasting Press Guild event, said that BSkyB had budgeted a certain amount to spend on marketing and that the company, until his arrival, had "two groups who believed they were both spending 72 per cent" of the budget.
In wide-ranging comments, he also admitted that customer service at BSkyB had not been up to scratch.
"Our whole customer service proposition, since [I joined] has been under review and we have hired a bunch of people to get things sorted," he said. "I am obsessed about customer service and I want BSkyB to have the best customer service proposition available."
