Berlin-based commercial radio station Spreeradio 105.5 is from now on available Europe-wide on Eutelsatis Hot Bird position at 13 degrees East. The satellite launch, which took place during the Internationale Funkausstellung consumer electronics fair in Berlin, inaugurates Eutelsatis DVB radio package. The satellite operator is offering radio stations in Germany an inexpensive complete package from the uplink to an inclined-orbit satellite to the downlink on Hot Bird to feed terrestrial transmitters and reach listeners outside the regular transmission area. According to a Spreeradio spokeswoman, the channel decided to make use of Eutelsat to reach holiday-makers and people who used to live in Berlin and want to stay informed about news and events in the German capital. Spreeradio 105.5 uses a digital channel on Belgacomis digital platform on transponder 89 (12.476 GHz H, SR 27.500, FEC 3/4) of Hot Bird 3. During the Funkausstellung the channel transmitted live from Eutelsatis stand between 1000 and 1400 CET. Also part of Eutelsatis DVB radio package is WRN3, the German-language channel of London-based World Radio Network.
