Media company CLT-UFA doesn’t want to sell its shares in German general interest channel Vox to Rupert Murdoch.

A CLT-UFA spokeswomen said that the company was unfazed by News Corp’s recently announced intention to acquire 100 per cent or at least the majority in the Cologne-based channel. "We are very satisfied with Vox’s development and don’t see any reason for discontinuing our involvement," she said. CLT-UFA holds 24.9 per cent in Vox, as does Canal Plus. News Corp owns 49.9 per cent.

In a recent interview with a German news magazine Murdoch’s German company head Peter Chernin said he hoped for a "peaceful solution" with CLT-UFA/Bertelsmann and that if News Corp succeeded in taking over Vox, it would make available its vast store of programming. However, Murdoch has the option to make an offer for the remainder of Vox’s shares at the end of the year, when the latter will be able to make a counter-offer.
