Cambridge, Ontario-based Com Dev International Ltd. received a $5 million contract this month from Alcatel Espace to supply switches, multiplexers and related equipment for Alcatel’s Multimedia Asia (M2A) satellite payload program. The contract also gives Alcatel the option to purchase equipment for six more satellites, for a total potential value of $30 million. Space Systems/Loral [LOR] is the M2A prime contractor, for PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara [PSNRY]. In addition, Com Dev and Alcatel Espace signed a memorandum of understanding to enter into a three-year contract whereby Com Dev would provide Alcatel special engineering support and spacecraft design assistance.
