Viasat has placed an order for multiple All.Space Hydra MAX satcom terminals which are designed to transmit multiple satellite links simultaneously. The Hydra Max terminal is now approved for operation on Viasat’s global NextGen Ka-band network, including Mil Ka-band.
All.Space announced the order on Tuesday but did not disclose the quantity of terminals or financial terms. This comes after the two companies entered a strategic partnership earlier this year to integrate, test, and certify the Hydra terminal family for Viasat’s Ka-band network.
Hydra Max, which debuted last year, can deliver wideband connections on two or more independent Ka-band satellite networks at the same time. It is compatible with the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) U.S. military network, SES’s O3b mPOWER, Viasat 3 & GX, and upcoming Ka-band constellations Amazon Kuiper and Telesat Lightspeed.
All.Space said this work shows how the two partners are “translating technical interoperability and network integration into real-world operational capabilities for government and defense users.”
“Government and defense users need communications solutions that are resilient, flexible, and ready to perform in demanding operating environments. Hydra MAX operations on Viasat’s global NextGen Ka-band network, combined with its advanced multi-link, multi-orbit capability, provides a powerful solution for mobile users who require assured, high-performance connectivity,” commented Vic Farah, senior vice president of Government Services and Solutions for Viasat.
