ST Engineering iDirect has announced the availability of Intuition, its next-generation, cloud-native, software-defined ground system designed for multi-orbit environments, for customer testing and adoption. Intuition aims to change how satellite networks are deployed, how connectivity services are delivered, and how satellite operators and service providers can drive revenue while streamlining operations. ST Engineering iDirect announced the news, Oct. 8.

The company unveiled Intuition at SATELLITE 2024. The next generation platform is a central part of ST Engineering iDirect’s strategy to provide a platform that meets the evolving needs of its customer base.

The company has five core principles behind the platform. Firstly, virtualized, cloud-based infrastructure to scale services quickly and cost-effectively for the fastest time-to-market. Secondly, intelligent, multi-orbit support to deliver services for every application on every orbit. Thirdly, standards-based network convergence to integrate satellite networks seamlessly into the global communications domain. Fourthly, end-to-end orchestration to adjust resource and service allocation to meet evolving demand across a network of networks, and finally, flexible go-to-market strategies.

This initial release marks a critical step toward the general availability release in 2025, allowing customers early integration and testing of Intuition in their own network ecosystems. The aim of Intuition will be expand operators and providers’ market reach and maximize their growth, standardize and automate their operations, and provide a runway to future opportunities.
