MDA Space has selected Beyond Gravity to supply on-board computers for its Aurora satellite supply chain, including for the Telesat Lightspeed constellation. Beyond Gravity will provide 252 on-board computers with integrated navigation receivers and antennas. 

Beyond Gravity, formerly known as RUAG Space, is based in Switzerland. The company announced the deal on Thursday, financial details were not disclosed. 

This technology will provide satellite command & control, reconfiguration and precise GNSS satellite positioning in combination with the provided GNSS antennas. Beyond Gravity said it plans to begin delivering the on-board computers this year. 

According to the product fact sheet, Beyond Gravity onboard computers in orbit include  Hispasat 36W-1, Turkish Earth observation satellite Göktürk 1A, the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter, Galileo FOC navigation satellites 9-14, and Sentinel satellite s2A & 2B.

“Our advanced and proven constellation on board computers are essential for satellite constellation missions, ensuring robust performance and reliability,” said Kurt Kober, vice president of Electronic Solutions at Beyond Gravity. “This agreement marks a significant milestone for Beyond Gravity’s Electronic Solutions business unit, reflecting the company’s strong position in the commercial space market.”

MDA Space has been investing in its supply chain for the Aurora software-defined satellite product line. Telesat Lightspeed is the anchor customer for the product, and MDA Space is building 198 satellites for Telesat for the Low-Earth Orbit constellation. 

The company recently signed deals with Germany-based Tesat to supply optical communication terminals for the constellation, and Belgium-based Aerospacelab to provide battery charge regulators
