The GX LITE terminal is now available as a portable terminal for Global Xpress (GX) service, Viasat announced Wednesday. GX is now part of Viasat after the company acquired Inmarsat. Manufacturing partner Get SAT was part of the terminal development.
The GX LITE terminal is designed for land expeditionary users, to be easily transportable. It can operate across commercial Ka-band with service via the Global Xpress network. Viasat described its size in terms that the carrying case can fit into the overhead compartment of a commercial airplane.
The terminal also has Get SAT’s flat panel antenna technologies and for autonomous operation to transmit and receive high-bandwidth data rates.
“Viasat is committed to delivering innovative solutions that support our customers’ missions on land, at sea, in the air and in space. We are proud to partner with innovative terminal manufacturers like Get SAT to develop technology that is tailored specifically to U.S. government land users’ requirements,” commented Matt Wissler, CTO of Viasat Government Services.
