SpacePath Communications (SpacePath) is debuting a new Ka-band amplifier, the company announced Aug. 30. The STA45385P is designed for Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium-Earth Orbit segment and has compact form factor, low weight and high power.

It is a single box design and provides up to 4GHz of bandwidth (27-31 GHz). It also features SpacePath’s heat sink design that uses a carbon fin air cooling structure, which it claims is around half the weight of copper-based cooling systems but with similar thermal properties. The company plans to showcase the amplifier at IBC.

“Our continuing innovation in customer-led amplifier design is one of the reasons we’ve become a provider of choice in the global satcom market. Our latest SWaP-based amplifiers, featuring best-in-class size, weight and power attributes, continue to set new standards in both performance and system functionality,” Colin Bolton, director of Business Development of SpacePath said in a statement.

SpacePath is based in the U.K. and designs, manufactures and supports a wide array of uplink amplifiers and associated equipment.
