Skyrora, a United Kingdom-based smallsat launch company, has restructured its manufacturing division to produce face visors and hand sanitizer to combat coronavirus. The company said it has refocused all of its U.K. operations and has invested all human resources and working capital to help tackle Covid-19 in response to the U.K. government’s call for support from businesses.
The company is working on initial tests to create face visors with its 3D-printing facilities, and is in discussion with the Scottish government to decide where the visors will best be used. It also has completed the first batch of hand sanitizer according to World Health Organization (WHO) standards and guidelines. It is now working to scale up production, with the goal of producing more than 10,000, 250 ml bottles per week.
“We all must answer to the government & NHS for support and Skyrora is in a fortunate enough position to do so. We are confident that we will get through this stronger,” Skyrora CEO Volodymyr Levykin said. “It is at a time like this, that a business like ours should step up and carry out a civic duty, setting aside the normal commercial activity and standing side by side with the Scottish government, the NHS and the UK government for the greater good of our country.”
