Trimble announced that its Trimble VRS Now networks — powered by Trimble Pivot Platform software — can now process Galileo observation data in its network-modeled Virtual Reference Station (VRS) solution. As a five-constellation technology using Global Positioning System (GPS), GLONASS, BeiDou, Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) and now Galileo observations, Trimble VRS Now can deliver better real-time positioning performance for customers using Trimble networks throughout much of Europe.

With accessibility to the Galileo constellation, Trimble says users now have visibility to more satellites, which can be advantageous in environments where line of sight may be limited. VRS Now users can also improve positioning integrity using observations from additional satellites to better mitigate errors; operate at higher cut off angles, delivering better performance in urban canyons and other less than optimal environments; and minimize multipath and interference through the addition of available satellite signals.

Trimble’s solution is geared to meet the needs of surveyors, mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) professionals and other industries.
