[Via Satellite 12-192014] Norsat International has received an approximately $430,000 order for its Atom series Block Upconverter (BUC) products from a large international defense electronics company. This represents the second largest single order for the Atom series. Norsat said it has worked closely with this customer since the product was introduced in April 2014 and expects the vast majority of the order tobe shipped during the third quarter of 2015, with some units being shipped in early 2015.
The Atom series of BUCs and Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) are ideal for Communications-On-The-Move (COTM) applications as they are up to 82 percent smaller, 68 percent lighter, and 60 percent more energy efficient than other products on the market, according to Norsat.
“The ability to have high-level connectivity regardless of the location, conditions, or movement of the vehicle, plane or boat, is increasingly becoming a requirement from customers. Our Atom series is specifically designed to meet the various challenges faced by this market, including smaller size, lower weight, decreased power consumption and reduced heat dissipation. This product, and end market, are two key areas where we have the opportunity to drive growth over the foreseeable future,” said Amiee Chan, chief executive officer of Norsat.
