[Via Satellite 08-13-2014] Kratos Integral Systems International (ISI) will provide its Epoch IPS fleet management system for the upcoming Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) ABS 3A and ABS 2A satellites. The Command and Control (C2) system will be used as the primary and backup system for the two satellites, both of which are built on the new Boeing 702SP all-electric satellite bus.
Epoch IPS is already used for ABS 2, an SSL-built satellite launched in February 2014. The new agreement expands the same services to ABS 3A and ABS 2A scheduled for launch in late 2014 and 2015 respectively.
“The Epoch IPS system provides us with the uniqueness to be able to operate our satellites from different manufacturers under one umbrella system,” said Tom Choi, CEO of ABS.
ABS 3A is designed with 24 transponders in C-band and 24 in Ku-band. ABS 2A will carry a payload of 40 Ku-band transponders.
