[Via Satellite 06-10-2014] Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) selected Nimbus Data Systems’ Gemini all-flash arrays (AFA) as the storage foundation for the company’s computing infrastructures. SNC selected Nimbus Data after testing a series of vendors for storage solutions for its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) system. Since 2012, SNC has purchased seven AFAs from Nimbus Data.

“As a systems integrator, our customers rely on SNC to develop the best computing infrastructure for their environment,” said Kirk Chang, chief systems engineer for SNC’s Information and Sensor Solutions sector. “Nimbus Data not only fits the performance requirements we were looking for, but the multiprotocol support provided for ease-of-integration into our environment. The 2U form factor, which allows us to maximize our limited space, was especially important.”

As many SNC customers must work in extreme conditions, SNC tested the arrays in a temperature chamber. Nimbus Data’s AFAs were able to maintain low power consumption while at the same time deliver steady input/output performance and speed up random access and sequential workloads.
