[Via Satellite 06-04-2014] MtronPTI unveiled a new series of oscillators that allows customers to stay online everywhere they go and provides high quality battlefield imagery. The XO5500 series low g-sensitivity oscillators combine crystal manufacturing experience, vibration compensation methods and an unspecified new material.
“Clock noise from rotor wing vibration directly blurs radar and commercial flight airstream buffeting or engine vibration can cause satellite transceivers to lose lock,” said Conrad Jordan, VP, timing business center manager at MtronPTI. “The XO5500 series is designed to combat this problem, offering performance improvements over existing designs.”
As satellite Internet becomes more common on commercial airlines, widely adopted use of the service puts the speed of the network in danger. MtronPTI’s vibration insensitive clocks are designed to ensure that this service is uninterrupted. Another use for the oscillators is in intelligence gathering and guided weaponry for the defense sector. MtronPTI currently supplies low phase noise/low g-sensitivity clock references to both manufacturers of radar master oscillators and of radar systems.
