Voyager Technologies named leaders for its new business segments — promoting Matt Magaña to president of Defense and National Security and Marshall Smith to president of Space Solutions, the company announced on Feb. 18.
Magaña joined Voyager in October 2024, bringing experience from his previous roles as president and CEO of Blue Canyon Technologies and executive positions at Raytheon. He led spacecraft production and managed defense portfolios, including electronic warfare, space control, missile defense and more.
Smith joined Voyager in 2021 and has been promoted from his role as chief technology officer. In this role, he will focus on delivering space and science solutions, exploration infrastructure, and advanced systems. Smith previously held leadership roles at NASA, including deputy associate administrator for Systems Engineering. Smith has experience integrating commercial partnerships into NASA’s deep-space exploration programs, including the Human Landing System.
President of Voyager, Matt Kuta said: “With the promotions of Matt and Marshall, we believe we have the right leaders in place to propel the company to new heights and progress our nation’s influence from ground to space.”
Voyager recently reorganized its operations into three segments: Defense & National Security, Space Solutions, and Starlab. Voyager said these appointments will drive the company’s growth and influence in national security and space exploration.
