Ian Canning is named CEO of EACOWT

The U.S. proxy company for Eutelsat Group has named its former COO Ian Canning to the role of president and CEO. Eutelsat America Corp. and OneWeb Technologies (EACOWT) announced the move on Jan. 8. 

Former CEO Kevin Steen left the company to lead Aura Network Systems, which is building a commercial communications network for the aviation industry. 

Canning joined OneWeb Technologies’ predecessor TrustComm as COO in 2012. The company credited him with leadership during OWT’s merger and integration with Eutelsat America Corp. last year. He previously worked at Stratos Global Corp. and Iridium Satellite LLC. 

He is tasked with leading the company to provide global satellite connectivity, solutions, and support for the U.S. government’s connectivity needs. Canning was part of the new executive team EACOWT announced after the merger to market multi-orbit solutions to the U.S. government.
