Theresa Condor has been appointed the new CEO of Spire Global as founder and CEO Peter Platzer transitions to the role of executive chairman.

Condor was part of the company’s founding team and currently serves as chief operating officer. She is credited with leading the expansion of the company’s solution offerings and business lines. As CEO, Condor will focus on the company’s next phase of growth, particularly “streamlining operations and strong execution at scale,” according to the news release.

“With our recent agreement to sell our maritime business, we are at a transformational point as we seek to become a debt-free company with proven space infrastructure and technology,” Condor commented. “We are in a strong position to capitalize on significant near-term opportunities that generate long-term value.”

Spire announced the leadership change on Tuesday and said it was part of a planned leadership transition. Platzer led Spire for 12 years from its beginning as a small startup to a public company with more than $100 million in revenue. Platzer oversaw the company’s recent deal to sell its maritime business for approximately $241 million to Kpler.

Spire operates a constellation of small sensor satellites that monitor radio frequency (RF), data that is used in maritime, aviation, weather, government, and more. The company also hosts customer payloads on its constellation.

In addition, Spire made a few other executive moves. Former Airbus executive Celia Pelaz has been appointed chief operating officer, and former Airbus exec Gabriel Oehme has been appointed chief transformation officer.

Spire CFO Leo Basola will step down and former CFO Thomas Krywe will take an interim role while the company searches for a permanent CFO.
