Iridium Communications announced Wednesday that its longtime CFO Thomas Fitzpatrick will retire at the end of the year. He will remain on the company’s board of directors.
Fitzpatrick has been CFO of Iridium for 14 years and led finance and administrative functions through the development and launch of the Iridium Next constellation refresh, and the company’s financial transformation.
Iridium completed the $3 billion Next constellation refresh program in 2019 that launched 66 new active satellites (Iridium has launched on-orbit spares since then). After coming back from a bankruptcy in the ’90s, Iridium as seen years of revenue and subscriber growth and has a long-term goal to hit $1 billion of service revenue in 2030.
“Tom has led Iridium through obtaining export credit financing of the largest-ever satellite constellation refresh, multiple capital market offerings and a strong credit facility with attractive terms, while leading the financial transformation of a company,” CEO Matt Desch commented.
Vincent O’Neill, who currently serves as senior vice president of Finance will succeed Fitzpatrick as CFO at the beginning of 2025. He is currently responsible for treasury, strategic and operational financial planning and execution.
In addition, Iridium’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bryan Hartin will also retire at year’s end. He will be succeeded by Tim Last who currently serves as senior vice president of Sales, Product Management and Customer Care.
“It is a credit to both Tom Fitzpatrick and Bryan Hartin that they have developed leaders on their teams with the experience and vision to successfully succeed them. Both Vince and Tim have extensive experience working with Iridium’s partners, employees and investors and will continue the success of their predecessors,” Desch commented.
