Firefly Aerospace is looking for a new CEO after the launcher’s board of directors announced July 17 that CEO Bill Weber is no longer with the company.

This news comes after space media outlet Payload reported this week that the company is investigating allegations of an inappropriate relationship between Weber and a female employee.

The board said in the news release that Weber’s departure is effective immediately. Firefly board member Peter Schumacher will serve as interim CEO while the board initiates a search. Board member Chris Emerson will lead a transition committee.

A Firefly spokesperson told Payload that the company learned of the allegations at the same time they were reported to Payload.

Weber joined Firefly Aerospace in September of 2022 after co-founder and former CEO Tom Markusic left the company. He was previously CEO of cyber and geospatial satellite firm KeyW Corporation, which was sold to Jacobs Engineering Group during his tenure.

Firefly is a smallsat launcher and a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners. The company recently completed a successful launch for NASA’s Venture-Class Launch Services Demonstration 2.
