Two space scientists — Naia Butler-Craig and Hannah Kerner — have made Forbes 30 Under 30 2021 list for science. Butler-Craig is a NASA Space Technology Graduate Research fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the High-Power Electric Propulsion Lab. Kerner is part of the NASA Harvest program and an assistant research professor at University of Maryland, College Park. 

Both are former guests on the On Orbit podcast. In the episode “Propulsion in Space While Moving Forward on Earth,Butler-Craig talked about her journey in the space industry, the smallsat renaissance, and the importance of tackling racism in STEM. And in the episode “Harvest Hub: Food Security from Space,” Kerner shared how NASA Harvest program uses satellite data to make decisions related to food security and agriculture, and the real-life implications of the work. 

The list also included space scientists Carl E. Fields, a doctoral candidate in astronomy and astrophysics; Suman Sherwani, a satellite systems engineer; and Amir Siraj an astrophysics student.
