Eutelsat has won a new deal with Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, which will see a more integrated multi-orbit solution bought to the maritime sector. The goal of this will to bring better high-speed, low-latency broadband solutions in maritime.

Inmarsat Maritime will use Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO network for integration into its NexusWave connectivity solution. The two companies announced the deal, Sept. 25. Inmarsat Maritime announced NexusWave in May as a fully managed service that integrates its existing Global Xpress (GX) Ka-band network with Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) services, coastal LTE services, and an additional layer of satellite L-band. Service is set to launch in 2025.

Eutelsat said this deal is an example of growing demand for integrated, multi-orbit solutions in the mobile connectivity market.

“We are excited to be working with Eutelsat to integrate their OneWeb LEO capability into our NexusWave solution for the maritime industry. This announcement underscores our commitment to delivering robust, high-performance connectivity solutions that meet the diverse needs of our global customers,” Ben Palmer, president of Inmarsat Maritime, said in a statement.
