Spacecom has entered the maritime market, signing its first deal in the market with a superyacht communication provider. The Israeli satellite operator announced May 12 that a superyacht communication provider will use Ka-band capacity on its AMOS-17 satellite.
Spacecom’s decision to broaden the diversity of services into maritime connectivity is another step in evolving the company’s overall strategic direction by supplying a variety of solutions to new sectors. AMOS-17, its most recent addition, is a fully digital and high throughput satellite (HTS) expanding the operator’s reach over Africa, Middle East, the Indian Ocean, and Asia.
“Choosing Spacecom’s solution is a testament to the company and AMOS-17’s advanced capabilities. This deal strengthens the continuing implementation of our strategy targeting the maritime sector as we move forward to become a leading and important supplier of satellite-based land and maritime connectivity services,” Oren Tepper, Spacecom’s senior vice president of Maritime said in a statement.
