The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) now has 400 vessels as part of its VSAT marine network, the company announced Feb. 16. The company’s services are now used on 373 sea-going and river ships, as well as 27 ice-class ships, including 12 icebreakers.
The state-operated company said its technology that offers seamless switching between its satellites covers 99% of Russia’s water zones, as well as those of the Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific oceans. RSCC has identified maritime connectivity as a priority vertical.
“It is so important to provide people who spend several months away from land and familiar life with a decent level of media consumption and communications. Ever more ships are joining the VSAT network of RSCC. We will continue to provide them with affordable, high-quality communications and internet wherever they may be,” Alexey Volin, director general of RSCC said in a statement.
