Comtech Xicom Technology has received a contract valued at more than $8.8 million for Ka-band Solid-State amplifiers for an In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) satcom application. Comtech Xicom Technology is a California-based subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications’ Commercial Solutions segment. 

The subsidiary manufactures a variety of tube-based and solid-state power amplifiers for military and commercial satellite uplink applications, with power levels from 8 W to 3 kW, with frequency coverage in sub-bands within the 2 GHz to 52 GHz spectrum. 

“We have incorporated the latest Gallium Nitride solid-state technology for use in a new cabin external application. We have shipped over 2,000 airborne amplifiers to date, and we continue to expand our presence in this growing market,” Fred Kornberg, Comtech Chairman of the Board and CEO said.
