[Satellite TODAY 03-05-10] OnAir and Oman Air have tested the full spectrum of mobile and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity services based on Inmarsat SwiftBroadband on a commercial airliner, the companies announced March 2.
    Oman Air and OnAir tested a range of services, including GSM/GPRS and Wi-Fi Internet were offered. Oman Air passenger services will include Internet access via wireless as well as the ability via mobile phones and smart phones to make and receive calls, to send and receive text messages and emails, and to access data services.
    The service will now be offered on Oman Air’s Airbus A330 aircraft route from Muscat International to London Heathrow, with planned extensions to other Oman Air aircraft in the near future.
