Connexion by Boeing signed an agreement with its first ever maritime customer and added another airline to its satellite Internet service, the business unit of Boeing announced.

Teekay Shipping Corp. will be the launch customer for Connexion’s maritime service, which allows vessels to receive high-speed communications via satellite. The agreement calls for Teekay to install the service on 50 of its ships with an option to install the service on 40 more.

Separately, Austrian Airlines signed a deal to install Connexion equipment on seven of its aircraft along with an undisclosed number of options. Installation aboard four Boeing 777s and three Boeing 767s will begin in early 2006. The service will be introduced on select long-haul flights, which will be announced at a future date.

Connexion also signed an agreement with telecommunications provider Teliasonera to allow customers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden to access Connexion through their Teliasonera accounts. Customers of the telecommunications company’s mobile services will be able to use their Teliasonera passwords to access Connexion services aboard Scandinavian Airline Systems flights as well as ones operated by Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, ANA and Singapore Airlines, Boeing said.

Financial details of the arrangements were not released.
