Viasat made two important expansions in its Mexican market. Viasat and Ubix, a wholesale satellite internet and telecommunications company, formed a strategic partnership to bring high-speed satellite internet to enterprises, businesses, and federal programs across Mexico. Viasat also introduced Viasat Urban Wi-Fi, a new satellite-enabled Wi-Fi service for cities throughout Mexico.

Ubix will sell, install and provide customer support for Viasat’s satellite internet service to businesses throughout Mexico. Viasat currently has satellite internet coverage over Mexico with its ViaSat-2 satellite.

Viasat Urban Wi-Fi is being deployed first in Mexico City, with plans to bring its broadband service nationwide by the end of 2019. Major Mexican cities expected to receive the service, include Cabo San LucasGuadalajaraGuanajuatoPueblaTijuana, and Veracruz, among others. Viasat Urban Wi-Fi may also be used to supplement existing cellular networks in times of natural disaster or national security relief.
