SatixFy Communications secured an approximately $10 million order from MDA Space for engineering models, space-grade chips, and additional engineering work, SatixFy announced on Monday.

This includes a purchase order for $6.7 million for engineering models and space-grade chips. It also includes an authorization to proceed agreement for an additional $3.5 million for engineering work.

SatixFy said the company will provide engineering models and space-grade chips, which will be used for internal testing and assembly in MDA Space’s satellites. These advanced chips and digital beamformers will enable high-performance and power-efficient communication satellite solutions for MDA Space.

This comes after MDA Space acquired SatixFy’s digital payload division for $40 million in 202, and a $20 million pre-purchase commitment for digital satellite chipsets. SatixFy retained its ASIC intellectual property and new chip development in the acquisition.

SatixFy CEO Nir Barkan said this order shows the strong market demand for the company’s space-grade chips and digital beamforming technology. “These agreements solidify SatixFy’s role as a key enabler of next-generation satellite communications,” Barkan said. “Our solutions are very much at the heart of next-generation advanced satellite networks, supporting both LEO and GEO constellations that will define the future of global connectivity.”

MDA Space is ramping up activity to build the Telesat Lightspeed constellation based on its Aurora software-defined satellite model. The company recently received a $768 million contract to manufacture more than 50 Aurora satellites for Globalstar’s next-generation constellation.
