[Via Satellite 08-12-2015] Gilat Satellite Networks is entering into a partnership with China’s Space Star Technology Co (SSTC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), in which SSTC and Gilat will jointly provide the satellite communications network for ChinaSat 16, the first Ka-band multi-spot-beam High Throughput Satellite (HTS) in China.

Multiple network segments and VSAT terminals will use Gilat’s SkyEdge 2-c technology, per the agreement. The SkyEdge 2-c network is expected to bring high speed fixed and mobile services, including airborne, maritime, train and land mobility throughout the country. Gilat will also share its knowledge of satellite-enabled applications with SSTC.
