Eutelsat America Corp. and OneWeb Technologies Inc. (EACOWT), the U.S. proxy company for Eutelsat Group, and Hughes Network Systems (Hughes) have partnered to develop an OneWeb capable Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) modem transceiver circuit card assembly (CCA), EACOWT announced Feb. 11.
The CCA will support EACOWT’s contract with L3Harris Technologies for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Defense Experimentation Using Commercial Space Internet (DEUCSI) Call 003 program.
This will integrate Eutelsat OneWeb LEO broadband into the L3Harris RASOR Ecosystem, a configurable waveform solution that aims to provide military users with flexible, software-defined multi-orbit connectivity. The RASOR ecosystem enables multi-mission operations in a single platform. The partners plan to deliver this LEO capability for military communications in 2025.
Hughes is a OneWeb and EACOWT distribution partner and developed the OneWeb gateway electronics and modules that enable military users to access the connectivity.
“Hughes is developing this solution leveraging its deep expertise in the OneWeb gateway electronics, satellite subscriber module and systems architecture,” said Ian Canning, CEO of EACOWT. “They are well placed to support EACOWT to deliver seamless and innovative connectivity solutions to address military users’ multi-orbit mobility needs.”
EACOWT and Hughes have delivered OneWeb LEO capabilities in the Arctic region for the Air Force Research Laboratory since 2021.
