NSSLGlobal has won a new contract with the German government. The company, a full-service project engineering, satcom and systems integrator, will provide satellite communications services and technology to Germany’s Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, or BBK. NSSLGlobal announced the contract award, Oct. 23.

NSSLGlobal will provide the connectivity, hardware and technical support that BBK teams need when operating in extreme conditions to protect Germany. The company said that portable satcom is the key to secure, rapid communications and the command and control of dispersed, small units, avoiding the delays and interruptions to terrestrial infrastructure that often accompany emergencies.

NSSLGlobal will enable operators to pass vital information to decision-makers and those at the operational face at critical times. In addition, the BBK will use NSSLGlobal’s Insight business management portal, to provide users real time information on all interactions, for monitoring, control and alerting along with provision of data records.

“NSSLGlobal is providing us with the robust, always-on solution we need for our teams in the field to remain fully connected in highly challenging and complex emergencies when conventional terrestrial infrastructure may be overloaded or out of action. This solution combines high levels of resilience and ease-of-use with a trusted provider, which matches our requirements precisely,” Swen Zehetmair, Head of Unit, Unit A.II.2 – Ensuring the Operational Capability of Equipment -Technology, BBK, said in a statement.
