Boeing subsidiary Millennium Space Systems in El Segundo, California said on Monday that it has finished preliminary design review (PDR) of the company’s Low Earth Orbit Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter (FOO Fighter) constellation, which is to be a key part of the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).

Millennium said on Monday that the completion of PDR came four months after Millennium received “authorization to proceed” on FOO Fighter and that the company plans a critical design review on the system early next year.

L3Harris Technologies is to provide the payload for Millennium’s FOO Fighter satellites.

Millennium said it will also deliver a ground system and perform mission operations for the prototype constellation, which is to track advanced missiles, including hypersonic ones, and thus complement SDA’s planned Tracking Layer in the PWSA.

Doug Hulse, portfolio lead for Millennium, said in a company statement on Monday that “we’re building off our common bus architecture, so our bus design is solid. For PDR, that allowed us to focus on the mission itself – that’s what’s critical,” he said.
