Planet Labs signed a seven-figure contract expansion with a U.S.-allied international government agency for SkySat satellite data. Planet announced the SkySat expansion with the unnamed allied nation on Monday. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The SkySat fleet provides satellite imagery up to 50 cm resolution with the ability to have multiple revisits per day of anywhere on the globe.
This comes after Planet recently signed a new seven-figure pilot program with an international ministry of defense (MoD) customer for PlanetScope data enhanced with SynMax artificial intelligence. The pilot program is for a maritime domain awareness solution.
“Global customer demand for high resolution satellite data continues to grow, fueled by heightened security needs and increased climate disaster risk,” commented Planet CEO and co-founder Will Marshall. “Our SkySat fleet provides organizations with a powerful combination of high frequency, low latency, high resolution data, enabling greater understanding of critical events around the world.”
