German startup Vyoma will participate in two European Commission contracts focused on European intelligence sovereignty. Both awards, the EMISSARY and STAALION projects, are under the European Defence Fund (EDF) program.
Vyoma leverages ground-based data and soon will use space-based data for automated satellite operations and to increase space domain awareness.
STAALION, headed by Nurjana Technologies, aims to design a system that protects strategic European assets via in-situ detection and characterization of threats, from LEO to GEO. Vyoma is taking a large role and is responsible for developing the LEO space segment of the constellation and implementing the detection and identification software. The overall project has a 6 million euro budget.
Vyoma will also work on the EMISSARY project, led by Leonardo, to develop a network of ground- and space-based sensors that feed a European Space Command and Control (SC2) center. Vyoma’s work developing and testing the scheduling module for space-based sensors. This is a 100 million euro project that will involve over 40 partners.
“Vyoma’s involvement in both EMISSARY and STAALION underscores its dedication to fortifying European defense capabilities by providing cutting-edge space domain awareness and management systems,” the company said in a press release.
