Space and Data-as-a-Service satellite company Sidus Space and L3Harris Technologies announced Tuesday that they will continue working together to support the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP) for another year.
The DoD Mentor-Protégé Program was designed to foster partnerships between established defense contractors and smaller, emerging businesses, and to help smaller firms expand their footprint in the defense industry. Sidus Space and L3Harris Technologies will continue to collaborate on this program through March 31, 2025.
“We had a successful year in the program with L3Harris, and are eager to deepen our partnership, focused on supporting government customers,” Sidus Space Founder and CEO Carol Craig said in a statement, “The L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems segment and Sidus Space are both located on Florida’s Space Coast which we see as advantageous for further strengthening our relationship.”
Sidus Space has spent the past year-and-a-half mounting a strategic, financial bounce-back campaign after it was nearly de-listed by Nasdaq in early 2023 for trading below $1 per share. Two months ago, SpaceX launched Sidus Space’s first “LizzieSat” space-based data collection satellite, which aims to attract new customers across military and commercial sectors. Sidus expects to launch LizzieSat-2 and LizzieSat-3 on future SpaceX rideshare missions.
