OneWeb has signed up a new distribution partner, Eclipse Global Connectivity (Eclipse), as it looks to target the government aviation market. The company announced a new five year partnership on Feb. 24 with Eclipse, an aviation connectivity provider based in France that serves government, military, business, and commercial aircraft operators

Eclipse plans offer new low-latency, fiber-like airtime services, hardware systems and certifications to government aircraft across Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA) with OneWeb connectivity.

The initial focus will be on providing solutions for global-reach command and control, and manned and unmanned airborne ISR missions. The low-latency service it is hoped will enable combat cloud and applications like video transmission and cryptographic device synchronization.

“Eclipse and OneWeb share the vision of providing ingenious connectivity solutions to aircraft operators worldwide. Their lengthy and solid history of delivering complete solutions addressing the complex satcom requirements of government, military, and head of state operators makes Eclipse an optimal partner for us. It is one of the many reasons we are thrilled to have the Eclipse team onboard,” Dylan Browne, head of OneWeb’s Government Business line, said in a statement.
