SES Government Solutions (SES GS) launched a new X-band end-to-end managed service platform on Thursday for both fixed and mobile U.S. military and government end-users. The platform, tactiXs, allows customers to purchase secure volume-based Mbps services on-demand as opposed to standard MHz bandwidth agreements.
The tactiXs service will utilize secure, non-preemptible X-band capacity from the GovSat-1 satellite, which is operated by SES’ public-private joint venture with the government of Luxembourg. Network Innovations also partnered with SES on the service’s development and release.
SES GS said that the tactiXs platform will feature several key attributes of modern military satcom services, such as anti-jam, encrypted telemetry and control, and secure beam steering and control. The operator added that tactiXs can also augment the Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) system with secure X- and military Ka-band capabilities.
“Our new service platform is a non-preemptible alternative to WGS that can handle the most tactical-edge customers’ data and mission requirements, and with no lead time required can be set up within hours for the mission at hand,” said Pete Hoene, president and CEO of SES GS and a retired U.S. Air Force brigadier general. “We are proud to partner with both Network Innovations and GovSat as we understand the demand for reliable, uncontended bandwidth and we are excited to bring this innovative and secure solution to the market.”
