Versar Joint Venture Awarded Task Orders for Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station Repairs
[Via Satellite 01-07-2015] Versar’s joint venture with Johnson Controls Federal Systems has received a $6.1 million award to repair electrical, water transmission and compressed air systems at Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station in Hawaii and Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The Design/Build/Repair task orders came through the Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (S/R&M) Acquisition Task Order Contract (SATOC) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). This IDIQ is mainly used for AFCEC customers.
Located by Kaena Point on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, the Kaena Point Satellite Tracking station has been operating for more than 55 years. As one of seven remote tracking stations in the Air Force Satellite Control Network, Kaena Point supports approximately 60 satellite contacts per day, assisting in tasks such as on-orbit maneuvering, programming of the satellites’ on-board computers and maintaining spacecraft health.
