[Via Satellite 06-17-2014] Officials from the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) met at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in São José dos Campos to outline future collaborative satellite projects. The Sino-Brazilian Commission High Level Coordination and Cooperation (Cosban) evaluated the feasibility of the China–Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) 4A mission as well as a continuation of the program to include a CBERS 5 and CBERS 6.

Officials set the launch date for CBERS 4 to take place on Dec. 7, 2014. The satellite’s schedule was accelerated after a Chinese rocket carrying CBERS 3 failed, destroying the spacecraft. AEB also proposed greater educational cooperation between the countries both in academic and industry settings.
