[Via Satellite 10-02-13] Exelis’ subsidiary Exelis Visual Information Solutions, developers of ENVI and IDL software, will now deliver its image and data visualization analysis software packages to NASA with a blanket purchase agreement (BPA). The BPA consolidates more than 800 separate contracts into one annual transaction, saves the agency time and resources in license administration, and makes ENVI and IDL more readily available to NASA employees and contractors researching Earth climate-related issues.

The agreement between NASA and Exelis also allows various NASA centers to access Exelis Professional Services. This enables NASA to work closely with Exelis to customize and extend their software solutions to meet unique scientific needs, including goals specific to current environmental research projects. The BPA will be administered by NASA’s Shared Services Center and represents an estimated yearly savings to the agency of more than $100,000. All NASA centers under direct NASA administration are eligible to participate.
