[Satellite TODAY 02-13-13] Norsat has launched its new, upgraded fly-away satellite terminal GLOBETrekker 2.0. The multi-band capable terminal is now lighter, faster to deploy and has more features than its predecessor.
The GLOBETrekker 2.0 now includes a one-touch user interface and provides a tool-free assembly process for rapid deployment. It has a removable base unit that allows the modem and key electronics to be integrated with the terminal or removed and positioned indoors. Additionally, it includes the auto-acquire technology provided by Norsat’s LinkControl Software. The system’s user configured profiles allows operators to quickly switch satellites, equipment, or systems in the field.
The tterminal also features a USB recovery process that saves a full system image for security, configuration storage and disaster recovery if necessary. And, a new sunlight readable display offers visibility in direct sunlight.
The GLOBETrekker is currently undergoing Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) certification to allow for operation on the ten satellite WGS constellation for use by U.S. and other WGS-enabled military forces.
