[Satellite TODAY 07-27-12] Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) had second quarter 2012 net sales of $1.37 billion compared to $1.34 billion in the second quarter of 2011, due to higher net sales on an international tactical radar program, the division’s parent company Raytheon announced July 26.

SAS recorded $204 million of operating income in the 2012 second quarter compared to $176 million in the second quarter 2011. Raytheon Chairman and CEO William Swanson said the increase in operating income was primarily due to improved program performance.
“Raytheon reported solid operating performance in the second quarter driven by strong execution across the company," Swanson said in a statement. “As we celebrate our 90th anniversary this month, we continue to build on a long heritage of solving complex customer problems with innovative solutions and world class technology while creating value for shareholders and customers.”
Raytheon SAS booked $205 million during the quarter to provide multi-spectral targeting systems (MTS) for U.S. Air Force UAVs. SAS also booked $462 million on a number of classified contracts.
