[Satellite TODAY 07-26-12] TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has received a $7.3 million funded order from the U.S. Army for equipment, field services support and maintenance of Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems, TCS confirmed July 25.

The TCS SNAP VSAT systems aim to provide multimedia communications capabilities that convey encrypted voice, video and data. The U.S. Army is funding the procurement through its $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.
“The U.S. armed forces benefit greatly from secure, easy-to-deploy and reliable satellite communications systems," TCS Senior Vice President and General Manager of Government Solutions Michael Bristol said in a statement. “TCS’ SNAP VSAT satellite systems equipment gives our fighting forces the communications advantages they demand.”
